Case 42: Turnabout Boredom

Y'know, it's weird that I'd even be thinking this right now, but it's almost too quiet around here lately.  Has anyone had anything strange happen to them at that Christmas village or whatever?  Nothing weird about the Santa sitting there listening to peoples' wishes?  I haven't really gone over there to see what it's all about just yet.  Anybody have any ideas?

I don't know. I kinda agree with the almost, but yeah. [He's a little too angry at them to feel much sympathy, though maybe he does a little. Somewhere. It's hard to tell.]

I know it's stupid, but it's nice to think that it might work the same way as in all those really old Christmas specials, y'know? There's always this big jerk that's ruining Christmas because he hates everyone, and then someone's nice to him for no reason, and suddenly he turns his whole life around because of it. It'd be great if things were really that easy.

Hey it could happen! I mean, a lot of people here would have turned out a lot better if they'd gotten a few more hugs as kids.

They're both trapped here too. The Mayor basically said flat out that he's not doing this stuff because he wants to, or even because he likes doing it. Grady seems to think of it as the only way he can survive. I mean... maybe they were some of the first people to get stuck here, and so they just ended up taking over and trying to keep the place running? They might just be really bitter from being trapped for so long.

Who knows. What ever their reasons I don't particularly care. Even if that is true they shouldn't take it out on innocent people!

Oh yeah, I'm not saying that means we shouldn't be mad at them for everything they've done or anything like that. It just feels a little different to think of them as victims in all of this too. But yeah, it doesn't excuse what they've done at all.

For Christmas? I dunno. You can't really predict what the town's going to pull, so I'm planning to just take it as it comes. I think I'm going to prepare by baking cookies and buying lots of candy canes.
